I always go with the Double hung, since I am always changing which

window I have open. I open the top window if I want hot air to draft out, or if I want a window open, but nobody looking in... this required you having top-down and Bottom-up window shades.

If the window is very large, sliding might be the best option though.
Does a sliding window let you swing the fixed pane in to clean it?
